Dogs, cats and tortoises may be transported with you in the aircraft cabin if they are accommodated in a suitable container (max. dimensions 45 × 35 × 20 cm, adequate ventilation, spillage-proof) that weighs max. 6 kg including contents.
No other animals are accepted for transportation.
The animal’s head must not project from the pet carrier nor may the animal leave the container for the duration of the flight. Please note that, for safety reasons, the container must be deposited under the seat in front of you throughout the flight. At no time may the pet carrier be placed on a seat, even if an additional seat is purchased. A fee of 25 euros per one-way flight is charged for the carriage of a pet in the cabin.
Pets that, including pet carrrier, weigh more than 6 kg are carried in the cargo hold. They must also be accommodated in a suitable container. EUR 75 is charged per one-way flight for transportation. The animals must be accommodated in an enclosed, spillage-proof and escape-proof container. There must be sufficient space available for them to stand in their normal position. They must also have space to lie down. The pet carrier must be provided by the passenger.
For reasons of safety and space, a claim to carriage exists only if the intended carriage of the animal is registered at the time of booking on telephone: +49 (0)30 522 808 266 or email: passage@germania.aero and confirmed by Germania in writing.
Please note that all transport boxes for animals in the hold must have a water/food container that can be filled from outside. The container may not be filled during the flight.
The passenger bears sole responsibility for compliance with all legal requirements and restrictions associated with the importation and exportation of animals. As a general rule, the passenger is liable for all damage and consequential damage caused by the animal or carriage of the animal.
Carriage of animals is governed by the provisions of the IATA Live Animal Regulations, which Germania Airlines will provide on request.
On 1 October 2004, EU Regulation 998/2003 on the animal health requirements applicable to the non-commercial movement of pet animals came into force with the aim of avoiding rabies. If you wish your pet to travel with you you must find out in advance about entry regulations. Please read through the regulation before booking or consult your vet, veterinary inspection office or border inspection post. In particular, carriage to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta and Sweden is permitted only under compliance with very strict regulations. The regulation can be viewed at www.europa.eu.
Please note that the relevant, possibly supplementary, provisions of the air tour operator’s General Conditions of Booking and Carriage apply.
