BERLIN-BASED AIRLINE GERMANIA CHOOSES AIRBUS FOR FLEET ROLLOVER:
CONTRACT SIGNED FOR FIVE A319 JETS
BERLIN (w&p) – 21 July 2010 – S.A.T., the holding company of Berlin-based airline Germania, has firmed up its memorandum of understanding and signed a contract with aircraft manufacturer Airbus for the delivery of five Airbus A319 planes. The tentative agreement had been signed on the occasion of the International Aerospace Exhibition ILA in Berlin this June. Over the next few years, Germania replaces its entire fleet with this aircraft type. Deliveries of the aircraft will start in 2011.
The Airbus A319 aircraft will be used in the 150-seat configuration across Germania’s entire route network. Passengers will be able to enjoy state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment: in addition to video screens, a wide choice of audio channels will ensure that the journey literally flies by.
Axel Trampnau, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Germania, says: “The A319 is indeed the most popular aircraft in its segment. Germania and its customers will profit from its proven efficiency and its enormous flexibility for charter and schedules routes. With the modern and eco-efficient A319s we will also provide an important contribution to reducing the impact on environment.”
Germania Fluggesellschaft mbH, based at Berlin-Tegel Airport, is active in the three business areas of leasing, charter and single-seat sales. The independent airline’s route network currently includes more than 30 international destinations. In fiscal year 2009, Germania’s aeroplanes carried more than 2.5 million passengers. Germania currently operates 15 Boeing 737 jets, a number of which fly on wet lease for other airlines. Since the company was founded in 1979, Germania has established a strong reputation in the industry as a result of its high training and quality standards in technical maintenance, in-flight personnel and service. The company currently employs around 600 people at eight locations. For more information, visit www.flygermania.de.

FLEET TO BE MODERNISED BY 2013:
BERLIN-BASED AIRLINE GERMANIA CHOOSES THE AIRBUS 319
BERLIN (w&p) – 10 June 2010 – The Berlin-based airline Germania today announced details of its fleet rejuvenation plans: the airline’s holding company, S.A.T., has signed a memorandum of understanding with aircraft manufacturer Airbus for the delivery of five Airbus A319 planes. The announcement was made at the International Aerospace Exhibition ILA in Berlin. Over the next few years, Germania intends to replace its entire fleet with this aircraft type.
The Airbus A319 aircraft will be used in the 150-seat configuration across Germania’s entire route network. Passengers will be able to enjoy state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment: in addition to video screens, a wide choice of audio channels will ensure that the journey literally flies by.
Axel Trampnau, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Germania, says: “The Airbus A319 is quite rightly one of the most popular jets for short and medium-haul flights and it can be operated very economically on a wide range of different routes, both for charter and scheduled services. Our passengers will, of course, also be benefiting from these cost advantages. Additionally, the modern, fuel-efficient A319 means that we are making an important contribution to climate protection.”
John Kohlsaat, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Germania, adds: “This order for five new jets lays the foundation for the comprehensive rejuvenation of our fleet, and it enables us to offer our passengers a uniformly high-quality product and even better, more comfortable flights. Alongside all these advantages, we are helping to secure jobs at the Airbus locations in Germany.”

GERMANIA EXHIBITS AT ITB BERLIN FOR THE FIRST TIME –
COMPANY GROWTH COUNTERS THE INDUSTRY TREND
BERLIN (w&p), 4 March 2010 – Premiere at the world’s largest travel trade fair: Berlin airline Germania has its own stand at ITB Berlin for the first time. The airline affirms its commitment to a clear course of growth – countering the trend in the air travel industry – and sends a clear signal of allegiance to Berlin, the location of the trade fair and the company headquarters. Germania’s commitment to the trade fair is a sign of the commercial success of the independent, privately owned airline – even in these periods of economic difficulty. At its stand, Germania is presenting three business areas: leasing, charter and single-seat sales. On the days ITB Berlin is open to the general public, visitors can win a trip to the trendy city of Beirut and cultural centres Damascus and Aleppo at the Germania booth.
Presenting itself at ITB Berlin for the first time is an important milestone in the airline’s strategy of positioning the ‘Germania’ brand back at the focus of communication. The airline introduced its new brand identity and new logo to the public in February 2010. Part of the Germania fleet flies under wet lease to other airlines in their route networks. Germania is using this trade fair presentation as an opportunity to personally introduce its new directors to the international industry. CEO Axel Trampnau and CCO John Kohlsaat replaced Edda Gauch, who had held the position of CEO for years, at the top of the organisation in autumn 2009.
Chief Commercial Officer John Kohlsaat says: ‘We would like to develop a direct dialogue with many customers and potential business partners, such as travel agencies, tour organisers and event organisers, through our stand at ITB. The world’s largest tourism trade fair provides an optimal environment for presenting our products and services, while intensifying contact with existing partners at the same time.’

GERMANIA TAKES TO THE SKIES WITH A NEW LOGO – NEW WEBSITE WITH IMPROVED RANGE OF FUNCTIONS
BERLIN (w&p) – 4 March 2010 – The independent airline Germania has a fresh, new brand identity, the heart of which is an updated company logo that radiates dynamism, underscoring its continuously successful track record of growth. The logo presents a rotating, shining sphere in ‘Germania green’, and the company name is written in a font especially designed for Germania. With its new identity, the Berlin-based airline is positioning the ‘Germania’ brand back at the focus of communication. Hamburg advertising agency gudella, barche. is responsible for updating the logo.
A Boeing 737-300 is the first aeroplane to fly wearing the new look. The rest of the fleet’s design will gradually be adapted to the new identity in the course of routine maintenance work. An important part of the new brand identity is the completely revised website with an impressive, user-friendly interface. Improved navigation now guides customers through Germania’s offers more quickly and easily. For representatives of the media, there is a new press area featuring current press releases, visual material and background information available for download. With its new website, Germania is placing more emphasis on the sales of single seats on the Internet. The new website goes online in March. Look for www.flygermania.de!
John Kohlsaat, Germania’s CCO, says: ‘The colour green symbolises growth, but also stability, confidence and security. On the one hand, it stands for the consistent advancement of our business areas. On the other, it represents all the values that have made our company great in the past three decades. It was therefore an easy decision to keep the colour and basics of our old logo and supplement them with fresh, dynamic elements.’
